Editor: George W. Bush is pushing our nation toward a cataclysm from which we may never recover. He has no authority to persist in the occupation of Iraq, let alone order a troop escalation. He has no authority to start a war with Iran. He may not dismiss the concerns and desires of the American people, his own generals, and Congress, and it is the duty of Congress to set him straight!
The "Bush Plan" amounts to splashing gasoline on an already raging fire. Bush's bellicosity toward Syria and Iran is counter-productive. If the region needs anything, it is cooperation among the nations of the Middle East in order to stop the violence, defuse the tensions and animosities, and begin to build a secure peace throughout the region. --- Louisa A. January, 2007
