THE BAD AND THE UGLY - State Democrats failed to stop State Republicans & Arnold from decimating the safety net, medical care for poor children, K-12 Education & the Community College & State university systems, and a long and depressing list of other vital state programs and services. The responsibility for the many bleak consequences of this shameful budget deal rests with the Republicans and Arnold, who used their minority rule powers to block every reasonable attempt to raise revenue while enforcing their obstinate "cuts only" approach.
The defeat of Propositions 1A through 1E on the May 19th special election ballot, along with the tactics of Sacramento Republicans, have now resulted in over $26 billion in cuts.
