Phil Angelides Takes on Schwarzenneger in Mill Valley
On Thursday evening, an enthusiastic crowd gathered at the Mill Valley Recreation Center to cheer state Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides as he gave them the kind of speech eveyone wanted to hear. He outlined the differences between himself and Arnold and highlighted the record of broken promises and deceptions that have marred this governor's term. The slim Angelides joked, "I've been called the anti-Arnold. Take a look, no steroids in this body." Supervisor Charles McGlashen praised Angelides for standing up to Schwarzenegger when other Democrats didn't. Carole Simon Mills said "Phil Angelides stood up with courage and integrity against Arnold Schwarzenegger when the rest of our Democratic representatives in Sacramento laid down and rolled over in the face of his popularity." Hosts of the event included Raymond Thompson, John Alden, George Stratigos, Marty Krasney, Steve Silberstein, Dan Anderson, Carole Simon Mills, Suzanne Brown Crow, Sharon Jackson, Cassandra Flipper, Bob Kaufman Cloey Hewlett, Craig Burton, Marjorie Maloney, Phyllis Miller, John Leonard and Yvonne Bush
For those of you who were not able to attend and hear Angelides speak, rest assured that he is a strong candidate and a very confident speaker with plenty of gravitas. He's just what we need to get California back on a rational financial path and make appropriate investments in our educational system and infrastructure.

Wal-Mart Alert!
Three weeks ago, the Wal-Mart film was launched, and already over 700 screenings are planned for premiere week in November, including ten different countries, and even one in Wal-Mart's backyard. Now the movie's makers are moving deep into post-production... they've started up the night shift, and added a fourth editor to work movie magic on the macs into the wee hours. It's crunch time at Brave New Films. George Lakoff raised some concerns about the movie's subtitle. Several thousand suggestions later (whoa!), and a very subjective, completely non-scientific process have yielded 3 title finalists, and 4 subtitle finalists.  The choices are:.
TITLE:
WAL-MART (current title, suggested by Sam Walton)
WAL-MARKED(suggested by Jim Crawford)
WAL-MARTED(suggested by Barbara Shadden Crow and Anonymous)

SUBTITLE:
"Consuming America" (suggested by Cordell)
"Discounting America" (suggested by Jen Pfaff)
"The High Cost of Low Price" (current subtitle)
"The Movie" (suggested by C. Cramer, John L, Eric Jaffa, and Woody Hastings)

Now you can help decide on the movie's title. Choose one combination from the above suggestions and go vote! Time is short. Visit
http://www.walmartmovie.com/title_vote.php to register your vote. Even if you're too late to get in on the voting, a visit to the website is worth the effort. On Wednesday, June 29th at 8pm ET, the winner will be announced... one hour after the polls close. And check out the movie poster here: http://www.walmartmovie.com/cover.php

Forget States' Rights
Medical marijuana isn't the only casualty of the Bush administration's assault on the right of States to create laws that benefit their citizens. Energy Regulations being voted on now will allow the Federal Government to trump state law on the placement of LNGs. The Senate voted on Wednesday to give federal regulators...Read more

Quagmire in Iraq ?
Even timid newspapers and television talking heads are beginning to state the obvious. We might be having trouble in Iraq! Yet, there are still those who continue to search for a reason for the invasion in the first place. Please read this piece by William Rivers Pitt of TruthOut for a very interesting viewpoint on America's need for continuous warfare. The Thing We Don't Talk About
