Attend a "Leave My Child
Alone"
HouseParty Join a local House Party or Meetup on
Wednesday, June
1st. People across the country will be gathering with neighbors and friends to take action on
"Leave
My Child Alone," a project put together by Working Assets, MMOB (Mainstreet Moms), and
ACORN.
At your local event, you can find out more about No Child
Left Behind's
sneaky military recruitment requirement, take some bite-size actions to help all of our children get
opted
out, and lobby the local school district and school board to better protect family privacy. Most
important, you will connect with other people in your community who want to help protect our children
from
possible overreach by Pentagon recruiters.

A Candidates
Forum
A warm sunny, Sunday afternoon perfect for
a stroll on
the beach or lazing in a lawn chair. Yet more than 150 progressive, Marin and southern Sonoma
County
voters showed up at Olney Hall, College of Marin, to hear six candidates for the 6th Assembly district
answer questions about their positions, their backgrounds, and their abilities. Candidates who came
to the
Forum were John Alden, Greg Brockbank, Damon Connolly, Frank Egger, Jared Huffman,
and Pam
Torliatt. Wanden Treanor decided not to run. More than 40 organizations co-sponsored this event
that
gave voters an early look at the candidates and the campaigns. Spearheaded by a committee
called Voters
for Representative Government, the Forum was a successful first effort at involving voters. More
Forums
are planned for locations in Sonoma and Marin.
